Flash Memory and Non-Volatile Memory Storage Systems
Flash memory based solid-state drives (SSDs) are widely adopted in the modern computer system, ranging from mobile devices to servers in data centers, due to their better read and write performance and lower power consumption over traditional mechanical hard drives(HDDs). In flash memory industry, three-dimensional (3D) NAND flash is one of the most prospective advances. While the capacity of 3D flash memory grows dramatically, the performance and reliability problems of 3D flash based storage system are also quickly exaggerated. How to resolve new constraints of 3D flash memory chips, such as severe program disturbance, and performance/reliability degradation issues provides strong motivation of this research direction. Our current effort in this direction includes the following research topics:

System design of other new type non-volatile memories, such as 3D XPoint
